Clustering in quantum Hall effect: Spin-charge coupling

چکیده

The effective fractional charges like 17/4 or 19/4 are explained by our angular momentum theory. These fractions do not arise from odd-denominator rule. Due to same spin polarization for both of these along the magnetic field, these states are not the particlehole conjugates. The idea of clustering first introduced in cond-mat/0303309 has been extended to atomic clusters which explain the oscillations in the kHz range.

What can we learn about the dynamics of transported spins by measuring shot noise in spin - orbit - coupled nanostructures ?

We review recent studies of the shot noise of spin-polarized charge currents and pure spin currents in multiterminal semiconductor nanostructures, while focusing on the effects brought by intrinsic Rashba spin-orbit (SO) coupling and/or extrinsic SO scattering off impurities. By generalizing the scattering theory of quantum shot noise to include the full spin-density matrix of electrons injecte...

Anomalous Hall response in two-dimensional topological insulators due to the Stark effect

It is shown that the presence of matrix dipole moments induced by external electric fields can modify the Hall response in two-dimensional topological insulators. In the case of the quantum anomalous Hall effect the induced transverse currents acquire an extra term, being proportional to the Hall conductance and the time derivative of the applied electric field. In the case of the quantum spin ...

The Quantum Hall Effect: Spin-Charge Locking

In two-dimensional electron gas when a large magnetic field is applied in one direction and an electric field perpendicular to it, there is a current in a direction perpendicular to both. This current is called the Hall effect. It remained without quantization until 1980 when it was found that the quantization leads to correct measurement of h/e .Therefore the quantized Hall effect was further ...

Electromagnetic Interactions in the Quantum Hall Ferromagnet

The ν = 1 quantum Hall ground state in samples like GaAs is well known to be ferromagnetic. The global SU(2) spin symmetry of the microscopic action is broken down to a U(1) symmetry by the ground state. The Goldstone bosons corresponding to this spontaneous breaking of symmetry are the ferromagnetic magnons which are neutral spin waves. In addition, there are topologically nontrivial, electric...

Transverse spin-orbit force in the spin Hall effect in ballistic semiconductor wires

We introduce the spinand momentum-dependent force operator, which is defined by the Hamiltonian of a clean semiconductor quantum wire with homogeneous Rashba spin-orbit SO coupling attached to two ideal i.e., free of spin and charge interactions leads. Its expectation value in the spin-polarized electronic wave packet injected through the leads explains why the center of the packet gets deflect...
